Creating art is a wonderful journey
In 2017 we came up with the idea to start an online school. We wanted to visit idyllic places to record our art classes. Anthony as a photographer of landscapes, Luz as an artist and content creator, turned out to be a magical team.
Even when the world stood still and traveling was almost impossible, we continued creating content, this time in my studio in The Netherlands. We create YouTube videos every week, with art inspiration, materials tips and flip throughs.
About Luz
Professional artist
Marloes Bloedjes alias Luz is an artist and art teacher living in The Netherlands, creating colourful, abstract paintings and mixed media artworks. She enjoys long walks in nature, traveling, having good conversations and is a cat lover. Her painting process starts often with carefully feeling the right colour. She mixes her impressions of daily life with images she finds in her inner world.
Luz' Mixed-media classes
There’s a series of 3 mixed media classes: Pattern Playing, Fantasy Flowers and Mixed Media Angels. In these classes you’ll be working with acrylic paint combined with paper, fabrics, markers, etc..
Painting classes
For these classes our main material is acrylic paint. Have you always desired to paint landscapes, flower fields, trees or do you love to work on an abstract piece? This is your chance!

Art journaling is a fun, easy and personal way to record your creative journey! Each page is new and waiting to be filled with colours, shapes and words… or whatever you’d like to create.

5 Art Journaling Classes
Art journaling is a fun, easy and personal way to record your creative journey! Art journaling is a fun, easy and personal way to record your creative journey! Each page is new and waiting to be filled with colours, shapes and words… or whatever you’d like to create. Are you ready to develop your art and get in contact with the artist in you?
My art classes are designed to encourage you to start your own journal, inspire you and to help you to learn new skills. Colour and composition are both important themes. All art journal courses are available in English and Dutch.
In the first one, ‘An Introduction to Art Journaling’ we’ll dive into the definition or art journaling. Also we’ll be talking about setting up a background, choosing colours and find a subject to work with.
In the second one ‘Fairytales’ was inspired by our trip along the famous German Fairy Tale Route, where you can visit all the places from you favourite fairy tales collected by the Grimm Brothers. In this class we’ll be analyzing, personalizing and creating our own fairytale illustrations.
‘Discoveries’ is a perfect class for when you’re about to travel or visit a city. You collect things for your journal, make sketches of your impressions and watch for pattern designs. Once you’re ready with your preparations, you’ll bring it all together in your art journal.
In ‘Weave and Unravel’ is all about fabrics, wool, and lace. If you want to integrate textiles in your work, this one will be for you!
In Patterned Patchwork Collages I invite you to create a collage with a quilted touch using mini pattern designs. You can use any substrate you like, I’ll be working in a large art journal. Learn to trust your intuition & play around!
Art Journaling is for everyone!
You can participate in my art journaling classes if you have no experience at all, but also if you have been drawing, painting or journaling for some time. The course invites you to play, try new things and above all to enjoy the process!
Art Journaling takes up little space, you don’t need many materials to work with, your work doesn’t have to be perfect every time and you can keep it personal if you’d like. One thing is certain: it keeps your creativity flowing, so that when you’re ready to create a bigger piece, the ability to create is right there when you need it!

Online painting classes, how does it work?
Most classes contain around 3 hours of HD video content, in which I’ll show you my process step by step, from start to finish. The video lessons are easily accessible on our school’s website with a friendly interface. You have unlimited acces to the class and the ability to watch the course at your own pace, when and where you want, as often as you wish!
What device or operating system do I need to follow your painting classes?
My courses can be followed with any internet browser on your computer (Mac and PC) and portable devices, like your smartphone or tablet (iOS and Android). You should have a good internet connection. If you can watch video’s on YouTube, Vimeo or other social media then you’re good to go!
Which art supplies do I need?
On each course page you’ll find a tab with ‘Materials’. If you open this tab, you’ll find both the required and optional materials you need for this particular class.
in which language can I follow your classes?
All my classes are available in English. Some classes are also available in Dutch.
Does the painting class come with a workbook?
Yes! Each class comes with a PDF-workbook including inspiring exercises, inspiring images and background information.
Do I need to have experience with painting or mixed-media?
Most of my classes are suitable for all art levels, whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist. Everything will be explained step by step. Being open and eager to learn are more important than the level you’re at!
Are children able to follow these classes?
Although the classes are not especially created for kids, they will definitely be able to follow the lessons with the help of a (grand)parent.
When I’m a student in your painting class, will I get personal attention from you?
Absolutely! You can ask me questions and will receive feedback from me and other students. How? When you enroll in a class, you’ll automatically enter a designated private Classroom, where you can post your results, get feedback and tips from other students and of course myself. In absolute privacy of course, because we don’t share your data.
